What we aim for
We design against WCAG 2.2 level AA. In practice that means: a mobile-first layout that works from 320px upward, text that reflows and scales to 200% without loss of content, colour contrast checked against our ink, gold and ivory palette, visible keyboard focus, a skip-to-content link, semantic headings and landmarks, labelled form fields with clear error messages, and no information conveyed by colour alone. We avoid flashing content and autoplaying media.
Content
We write in plain language, keep sentences short, and explain clinical terms when we use them. Images carry alternative text, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers. Videos in the participant portal are captioned, and we provide written summaries of key preparation material.
On retreat
Tell us about mobility needs, sensory needs, dietary needs or anything else in your application, or at any point afterwards. We will be honest with you about what a specific location can and cannot accommodate.
Known limitations and feedback
Some third-party components, such as our external scheduling tool and payment pages, are outside our direct control; we choose providers with good accessibility records and will help you complete anything by phone or email instead. If something on this site blocks you, email hello@house137.com and we will fix it or give you another route to the same information.
